PADI Enriched Air Diver
The PADI Enriched Air Diver course is PADI’s most popular specialty scuba diving course, and it’s easy to see why. Scuba diving with enriched air nitrox gives you more no decompression dive time. This means more time underwater, especially on repetitive scuba dives.
Enriched Air-also called NITROX-can be thought of as air that has been enriched so that it has more than 21 % oxygen. The benefit is that you are exposed to less nitrogen that air.
There are number of ways to control your bottom time on your enriched air dives. You can dive using Enriched Air table for the mix you are breathing, such as one of the Enriched Air Rdp's or a dive computer. This will give you all the extra time underwater or shorter surface intervals that enriched air entitles you to.
Just keep in mind that there is a new factor to consider when planning your dives now, and that is that oxygen will sometimes impose limits on your diving.
With Enriched Air you have a new variable in your dive planning, and one that you can use to your advantage. Instead of breathing the same gas as everyone else on every dive, you will be able to make individual choices concerning the best gas for a dive.
You will really get an advantage if you are making a lot of dives in a day or on a more extended trip!!!
